QUEERCALL Festival Triple Bill

QUEERCALL Festival Triple Bill

Sorry, this event has sold out

QUEERCALL are bringing Live Art to the Quarterhouse with a TRIPLE BILL from the UK's top radical queer performers.
Featuring new work in progress from dedicated hedonist and self-proclaimed hot-mess KATY BAIRD, a new live solo drag & performance piece from WET MESS and the chance to join Folkestone's own RAY FELIX CARTER in their first work for the stage as they revel in the chaos of in-between-ness.
The TRIPLE BILL will be BSL Interpreted and pay-what-you-can.

If purchasing a ticket is a barrier to attending please email queercallfestival@gmail.com and we will be glad to reserve a free ticket for you.

KATY BAIRD | GET OFF (work-in-progress): The human brain registers all pleasures in a similar way - whether a delicious meal, a sexual thrill, a recreational substance, or those little hearts on Instagram... but just how good does all this consumption truly make us feel? Join dedicated hedonist and self-proclaimed hot-mess, Katy Baird as she fearlessly unveils her journey into the pursuit of pleasure. With trademark humour and honesty, Katy offers us a raw and unfiltered glimpse into the human need for distraction, exploring the depths of our desires and questioning the autonomy we have in choosing where we seek it. Brace yourself for an evening that challenges, captivates and ultimately brings us all closer together.

WET MESS | TESTO: a new live solo drag and dance performance foregrounding dialogue on gender fluidity, embodiment & transitions of taking testosterone. How do you know when you need to change? Kebab or Labia? Should I take testosterone? Why is it called eleven and not onety one? Where is the line between your eyes and my eyes on my body?

RAY FELIX CARTER | UN/BECOMING: When you finish unbecoming, what will you become?
In a floral, spellbinding, yonic collection of chants, spells, prayers, dances & rituals, un/becoming moves with & through a journey back to the primordial sludge, a yearning for destruction & undoing, a rage at systems not built for our survival.
un/becoming seeks to tear apart the boundaries around our identities & revel in the chaos of in-between-ness. It frolics alongside the re-reclaimed vocabulary of vogue femme queens & explosive ballroom sounds from within a trans-masculine embodiment, negating itself, missing the point, & exploring what it means to be queer & black, here & now, when you aren't any good at it.

QUEERCALL is produced by Ash McNaughton and commissioned by Marlborough Productions New Queers On The Block artist development programme, with support from University for the Creative Arts, Creative Folkestone, The Roger De Hann Charitable Trust, Screen South, The Coast Is Queer, and funding from Arts Council England.

The festival will feature Live Art performances, durational site-specific Performance Art, Exhibitions, Talks, & workshops across the Creative Quarter in Folkestone. Follow Instagram @queercall for further details.
